A few simple habits make a big difference:Remove dust and dirt regularly Dust, sand and crumbs are often barely visible, but over time they can damage the leather surface. Vacuum your furniture regularly at the lowest setting, using a soft, blunt attachment. You can also wipe the leather weekly with a clean, soft cloth.Clean preventively, not only when dirt becomes visible Do not wait until the leather looks dirty or dull. Regular light care keeps it fresh, supple and in top condition.Clean first, nourish afterwards Leather can only absorb care products properly when the surface is clean. Always clean it first and only then apply a suitable nourishing product. Avoid so-called all-in-one products for high-quality upholstery leather.Use products suited to your leather type Every type of leather has its own characteristics and requires appropriate care. Preferably use the products recommended by JORI via www.jori-care.com. Always test any care product first on an inconspicuous area, for example on the back or underside of the furniture.If you prefer a more natural cleaning method, you can use a mild soap solution made with 20 g of alkali-free soap, such as Marseille soap, in 1 litre of distilled water. Apply the solution with a clean, slightly damp cloth and gently rub the leather in large circular movements. Then remove the residue as thoroughly as possible with a fresh, slightly damp cloth without any product. Allow the leather to dry naturally for at least 48 hours. On heavily soiled areas, you can repeat the treatment, allowing the same drying time between applications. If you also prefer a more natural way to nourish the leather, you can use a mixture of 1 tablespoon of castor oil per litre of distilled water. Castor oil is available from pharmacies. Apply the mixture with a clean, dry, lint-free cotton cloth and gently rub the leather in circular movements.Never use aggressive or unsuitable products Avoid solvents, abrasive products, ordinary all-purpose cleaners, shoe polish, overly greasy products or care products that are not intended for upholstery leather. They can permanently damage the leather.Use a soft, lint-free cloth Use a clean, soft, lint-free cotton cloth. Avoid microfibre cloths: they can damage the leather surface.Use only slightly damp cloths Leather benefits from moisture, but not from wet cleaning. Always work with a slightly damp cloth and preferably use distilled water to avoid limescale marks or stains. Never make the leather too wet.Allow leather to dry naturally After cleaning or care, allow your furniture to dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use a hairdryer, heater or direct sunlight to speed up the drying process. After more thorough cleaning, allow sufficient drying time.Protect against direct sunlight Leather is sensitive to bright light. Direct sunlight or strong artificial light can cause discolouration, depending on the leather type selected. Where possible, avoid leaving your furniture in full sun for prolonged periods.Keep away from heat sources Extreme heat dries out leather and can make it less supple. Do not place your seating too close to radiators, fireplaces or other heat sources. A distance of at least 30 cm is recommended, with sufficient ventilation around the furniture.Maintain a healthy indoor climate Leather stays at its best in a stable environment. A room temperature of 18 to 20 °C and a relative humidity of 45 to 50% are ideal. Sufficient humidity is especially important in winter, when the heating is often in use.Take care with strongly coloured materials Dark jeans, brightly coloured cushions, throws or accessories can transfer colour to leather, especially lighter shades. Avoid prolonged contact if you are unsure whether the dye may transfer.Avoid contact with sharp or rough objects Zips, keys, buckles, sharp nails or pets’ claws can cause scratches, abrasion marks or other damage. Try to avoid this type of contact as much as possible.Protect heavily used areas Skin oils, perspiration and hair products can affect the leather over time, particularly on headrests and armrests. JORI offers special protective covers for these areas.Act quickly after spills If something is spilled, immediately and gently blot up the liquid with unbleached kitchen paper or a soft cloth. Do not rub or press. You will find the specific approach in the next chapter.What to do about stains? A stain is never welcome but responding quickly and calmly often makes a big difference.Act immediately Fresh stains are easier to treat than stains that have already soaked in or dried. Dab liquids as quickly as possible with neutral, unbleached kitchen paper or a clean, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.Dab, do not rub Never rub hard or apply pressure. This helps prevent the stain from penetrating deeper into the leather or damaging the surface.Remove solid residue carefully Heavy or solid soiling can be removed carefully with a blunt object, such as a spoon or wooden spatula. Never use sharp objects.Always treat a wider area Do not clean only the stain itself; treat the entire panel from seam to seam. This helps prevent a visibly lighter or different area from remaining after cleaning.Work from the outside in Always treat the stain from the outer edge towards the centre. This helps prevent the stain from spreading.Use only suitable cleaning products Do not use household products, bleach, solvents, vinegar, nail polish remover, hairspray, abrasives or other home remedies. They can permanently damage the leather.Never apply the product directly to the leather First test the cleaning product on an inconspicuous area. Then apply the product with a soft cloth, not directly to the leather.Allow the leather sufficient drying time Do not use the furniture again until it is completely dry. After cleaning, preferably allow at least 48 hours of drying time.Take extra care with sensitive leather types Open leather types are more sensitive to stains, moisture and signs of use. Treat them with extra care and use only products that are suitable for the specific leather type. These tips are intended as first aid for stains, but they do not guarantee complete stain removal. The characteristics below are inherent to the material and make your furniture even more individual:Natural markings Small scars, insect bites, thorn scratches, grain patterns or slight differences in sheen and structure are part of genuine leather. They have no effect on the quality or lifespan of your furniture.Creasing and rippling Body heat, humidity and daily use can cause leather to stretch slightly. As a result, creases or ripples may form, especially on the most frequently used seats. This is completely normal and generally stabilises after the first few months of use.Colour nuances Not every part of the hide absorbs dyes in the same way. Slight colour variations can therefore occur. These are especially visible in non-pigmented full-grain leather, where the natural character remains most pronounced.Typical leather scent New leather often has a distinctive scent. This gradually diminishes with use and by airing the room regularly. Temperature fluctuations can temporarily make the scent more noticeable.These characteristics are inherent to natural leather. This layer makes the surface more even and helps soften small natural markings in the hide. The leather therefore has a calmer, more uniform appearance.At the same time, this finish offers good protection against stains and everyday use. Spilled liquids penetrate the leather less quickly, making maintenance easier. Pigmented leather is therefore the ideal choice for attractive, strong and easy-care seating. Because of the protective layer, this leather feels slightly less naturally warm and supple than more open leather types. The typical grain and nuances of the hide are also less pronounced. In return, the leather is robust, more colourfast and highly suitable for intensive everyday use. Within the JORI collection, Larido, Fuerte and Celia belong to this leather category. Lightly pigmented leather Lightly pigmented leather (or semi-aniline leather) receives a thin protective layer after tanning and through-dyeing. This layer is much lighter than on pigmented leather and leaves most of the natural structure of the hide visible.As a result, this leather retains much of its supple, warm and breathable character. It feels pleasantly soft and quickly takes on body heat. At the same time, the light finish provides additional protection against sunlight, soiling and small everyday accidents.Semi-aniline leather combines the best of both worlds: the natural appearance of aniline leather with the practical protection of pigmented leather. Within the JORI collection, Lipano belongs to this leather category. Non-pigmented full-grain leather Non-pigmented full-grain leather, or pure aniline leather, is leather in its most natural form. It is fully through-dyed but receives no covering protective layer. This leaves pores, grain, colour nuances and natural characteristics clearly visible, giving the leather its lively appearance and unique character.Because the pores remain open, aniline leather breathes particularly well. It feels supple, warm and soft and quickly takes on body temperature. This openness does make it more sensitive to sunlight, stains and signs of use.Over the years, this leather develops its own patina. The surface becomes richer and more individual, which for many enthusiasts is precisely the charm of this leather type. Within the JORI collection, Xienda, Lotila and Nubuck belong to this leather category. Nubuck is lightly buffed on the surface, creating a velvety appearance and an exceptionally soft touch. Saddle leather Saddle leather has a distinctive character of its own. A specific vegetable tanning process and a light pigment layer give the leather its smooth surface, even appearance and slightly firmer touch.This leather is sensitive to light and develops a characteristic patina through use. This is part of its intended appearance. Because of the smooth surface, signs of use may become visible more quickly, making saddle leather especially appealing to those who appreciate leather that clearly develops character. Within the JORI collection, Vegetalia belongs to this leather category.Quality leather as the basis for lasting seating comfort More than sixty years of experience and craftsmanship have made JORI a specialist in high-quality seating. Strong leather starts with the right hide JORI works exclusively with high-quality hides from young Southern European bulls. They are naturally stronger, more dimensionally stable and less elastic than cow hides. This makes them particularly suitable for seating that is used intensively while still needing to retain its shape and appearance.Fewer seams for a calmer look Choosing Southern European bull hides offers another advantage: they are large. This means generous pieces of leather can be used even for larger sofas. The result is a clean finish with fewer seams, giving the design a calmer appearance and allowing the natural elegance of the leather to stand out more strongly.Thicker hides for furniture that is both more durable and more elegant Every JORI seat uses leather that is at least 1.4 mm thick. This is an exceptionally high standard, even within the premium furniture sector. The thickness helps the leather resist tearing, gives it a full, pleasant touch and allows for a refined finish.Deep colour, right to the core of the leather The hides are fully through-dyed with aniline dyes. This gives the leather a deep, intense colour right to the core of the hide. Small scratches or natural surface markings are therefore less noticeable. Slight colour variations may still occur. They are inherent to genuine leather and form part of the natural character of every hide.Leather as a sustainable choice Leather is a natural material with an exceptionally long lifespan. It is made from hides produced as a by-product of the food industry. By processing these hides into upholstery leather, a valuable raw material is given a second life. Without this processing, large quantities of hides would have to be destroyed or incinerated, creating an additional environmental burden. In this sense, leather is also a form of responsible reuse.At JORI, leather processing is carried out with respect for people, materials and the environment. Our leather is carefully selected and processed by our tanners using controlled, environmentally conscious tanning processes, free from harmful substances such as PCP and CFCs. A few simple points of attention help keep the fabric looking beautiful for longer.Vacuum regularly Small particles of dirt, such as dust, sand, crumbs or food residue, are often barely visible but can damage the fibres through friction. Vacuum your seating weekly to every two weeks, depending on the intensity of use. Always use the lowest setting and a soft, blunt attachment.Work with the pile For fabrics with a pile, such as velour or chenille, it is best to vacuum in the direction of the pile. This means gently smoothing the raised fibres in their natural direction.Use the right cloth You can also wipe the upholstery with a soft, lint-free cloth or fabric care glove. Avoid microfibre cloths, as they can affect the surface.Preferably use distilled water When wiping the fabric with a slightly damp cloth, preferably use distilled water. This helps avoid limescale marks or rings on the upholstery. Never use water on chenille fabric!Allow the fabric to dry thoroughly after care After cleaning, allow the upholstery to dry completely and naturally before using the furniture again. Never use water on chenille!Match care to the level of use In addition to regular vacuuming, periodic thorough cleaning is recommended for intensive use. Always choose products that are suited to the fibre composition of your fabric.Avoid prolonged direct sunlight Every fabric can fade over time under the influence of light. Where possible, avoid leaving your furniture in full sun for prolonged periods.Protect against sharp or rough contact Jewellery, keys, zips, metal clothing details, sharp nails or pets’ claws can damage the fabric. Sand and crumbs can also cause wear through friction.Be aware of colour transfer Dark jeans, throws, decorative cushions or other strongly coloured materials can transfer colour to your upholstery. Some dyes penetrate deep into the fibres and can then be difficult or impossible to remove. Take extra care with light-coloured fabrics.Act quickly on stains The faster you act, the greater the chance of a good result. Depending on the direction of the fibres, the fabric may appear lighter, darker or more irregular there.This phenomenon occurs mainly in chenille and velour fabrics. It has no effect on the quality, strength or lifespan of the upholstery. Seat shading is therefore a normal characteristic of fabric in use and is no cause for concern. Pilling Pilling consists of small balls that form when loose fibres mix with dust, lint or other particles from outside. It can occur soon after the furniture is first used and is common with many fabrics. Flat weaves and felt are generally the most susceptible.You can help limit pilling by vacuuming your seating weekly on a low setting. This gives dust and loose particles less chance to become embedded in the fibres. If pilling does occur, remove it carefully with a high-quality fabric shaver. Fuzzing In addition to pilling, fuzzing can also occur. Instead of small balls, a thin layer of hair-like fibres forms on the surface of the fabric. This is mainly caused by friction on frequently used areas.Fuzzing is also a normal characteristic of fabric in use. You can help limit it by vacuuming the fabric regularly on a low setting. The yarns are interwoven crosswise using one of the classic weaving patterns. Depending on the yarns and weaving technique used, the surface can look very calm and smooth or have more texture and depth.Flat weaves are versatile and suit a wide range of furniture shapes. Because of their open structure, they can be somewhat more susceptible to pilling or fuzzing, especially in heavily used areas. Chenille Chenille is a woven fabric with a soft, full touch reminiscent of velour. The effect is created by special yarns with fine fibres projecting around the thread. This gives the fabric a richer, three-dimensional surface.Unlike velour, chenille usually has no clearly defined pile direction. The pile lies more irregularly, creating a lively appearance with subtle variations. It is precisely this soft structure that can make chenille more susceptible to seat shading or light signs of use. Velour Velour is a fabric with a soft, upright pile. During weaving, an additional yarn system is introduced. The woven loops are then cut, causing the fine fibres to stand upright.This creates the characteristic velvety surface with a distinct pile direction. Depending on the light and the direction of the fibres, velour may appear lighter or darker. This gives velour its rich appearance but also makes it somewhat more susceptible to seat shading and signs of use. Jacquard Jacquard is a collective term for fabrics in which patterns are woven directly into the material. During weaving, the yarns are controlled individually, allowing complex designs, structures and relief effects to be created.The pattern therefore does not sit on top of the fabric, but forms part of the weave itself. This gives jacquard fabrics their rich appearance and makes them particularly suitable for upholstery with greater depth and character. Felt Felt consists largely of wool fibres, sometimes combined with other textile fibres. During production, the fibres are worked together mechanically, causing them to interlock naturally.This creates a compact, strong and relatively thick fabric with a warm, soft appearance. Its dense structure gives felt a robust feel, although intensive use can make it susceptible to pilling or fuzzing. With the right care, it will remain beautiful for years.Fibres determine character and comfort Upholstery fabrics often consist of a mix of natural and synthetic fibres. This combination helps determine how a fabric looks, feels and responds to everyday use. The way the fibres are processed also plays an important role. Together, these factors determine how your upholstery looks, feels and wears.The natural individuality of fabric Many JORI fabrics contain one or more natural fibres. This gives the upholstery its own appearance, touch and character. As with any natural material, subtle thickening of threads, irregularities or colour nuances may occur. They are inherent to the nature of the fabric and do not indicate a quality defect.Using raw materials more consciously The fabric collection also gives attention to materials that use raw materials and waste more consciously. We distinguish between recycled and recyclable fabrics.∙ Recycled fabrics are made from previously used fibres or textile materials. This reuses existing raw material and reduces the need for new materials. Avoid abrasives, solvents, glass cleaners, acidic products, bleach, oil or wax. They can damage the (lacquered) surface or leave a greasy film. ∙ Do not use furniture wax Furniture wax forms layers in which dirt can accumulate. This can cause scratches and give the surface a blotchy appearance. ∙ Protect against light Wood changes colour under the influence of light, especially during the first few months. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and move decorative objects regularly so that the surface evolves evenly. ∙ Keep temperature and humidity stable Solid wood can shrink or expand as temperature and humidity fluctuate. Article 13, delivery and execution The entrepreneur shall exercise the best possible care when booking orders and executing product orders and when assessing requests for the provision of services. The place of delivery is at the address given by the client to the entrepreneur. The entrepreneur shall execute accepted orders with convenient speed but at least within 30 days, unless another delivery period was agreed on. If the delivery has been delayed, or if an order cannot be filled or can be filled only partially, the client shall be informed about this within one month after ordering. In such cases, the client is entitled to repudiate the contract free of charge. The entrepreneur shall return the payment made by the client promptly but at least within 30 days after repudiation.
