1. Our fixed values for quality leather, the essence of your seating comfort

More than fifty years of experience and love for the profession make JORI the specialist of stylish seating comfort. It is up to you which leather or fabric seat you choose, but you can never go wrong with a JORI. Moreover, both the qualitative high-grade leathers and the wear-resistant fabric qualities lend themselves perfectly for the upholstering of JORI design furniture.

1.1. Bull skins for sturdy leather

JORI only uses top-grade southern European young bull skins. Compared to cow skin, leather made from bull skins is stronger, less elastic and retain its shape to better and more lasting effect. The skin of cows, is after all, stretched by calving and less sturdy. That's why JORI only processes firm skins exclusively from bulls.

1.2. The thicker the skin, the stronger and the more ravishing the leather falls

Any skin used for a JORI seating, is at least 1.4 mm thick. It seems little, but for a leather-upholstered seating, this is particularly firm. It makes the leather tear-resistant and provides a full touch and superior quality. A thick skin also allows for optimal finishing.

1.3. Less seams for more elegance and class

Southern European bull skins are larger than hides from other parts of the world. An average Southern European bull’s skin is larger than
5 m². Especially for sofas, for which large pieces of leather are processed, a large skin surface is important. Therefore the finish requires fewer seams, which makes your seating gain purity and elegance.

1.4. Full colours

JORI leather is tanned in the most environmentally friendly way possible. The skins are dyed with aniline dyes which guarantee maximum brightness and full colours. By this means the outer and inner skin get the same colour. Scratches or other natural imperfections on the surface are also less visible.

Every skin can reveal subtle differences in shade. This is typical for natural leather and has to do with the nature and specific properties of each skin.

1.5. Every skin has its past and is

Leather is not man-made, purely processed. It is a wholly natural product.

Each bull's skin has a vivid pattern of typical natural characteristics. This 'natural' look of top-grade quality leathers is preserved as much as possible, to keep the authentic character of the skin. Just these skins make your JORI a unique piece of furniture with personal character. These characteristics are therefore anything but material imperfections, they are proof of the natural origin.

Each skin is handpicked and inspected to the strictest quality standards. The experts responsible for the control are true specialists, who can perfectly distinguish permissible natural leather properties from errors that can lead to disapproval. This extremely rigorous selection process leads to upholster your seating with only the best skins with a pure natural look.

1.6. The older, the more ravishing: Leather patina

Year after year, your JORI seating is increasingly getting the authentic look that it deserves as a top product. A beautiful warm piece of nature that has one trait in common with all natural products: over time it becomes more beautiful, taking on a patina.

----------
2. Natural characteristics of leather

∙ Each bull skin comes with its own glorious past. Your leather seating furniture is composed with a series of skins and tells its authentic story in the shape of insect stings, thorn scratches, dung stains and tiny scars.

Variations per skin in gloss, colour and grains also give your furniture a unique look. These perfectly normal leather characteristics do not affect the quality and longevity of your furniture. They are just the most beautiful proof of the processed natural product.

∙ Leather swells by body heat and the associated humidity. This creates undulations and pleats in the leather, especially visible on the most frequently used places. This process, inherent in use, will manifest itself especially in the first months of use and then stabilize. They give your furniture the warm, rich look, only natural products can provide.
∙ Colour shading occurs when different sections of the skin absorb unequal amounts of colorants. Inherent to natural leather and particular to the type and specific properties of each skin. These subtle tone variations appear most distinctly in the non-pigmented, full grain nappa leathers.
∙ Depending on the tanning process, colouring and surface finishing, leather, in the initial phase, gives its typical leather odour. This decreases as it is used and is neutralized by regularly aerating the space in which the furniture stands. Also temperature fluctuations can strengthen this phenomenon.

These typical leather characteristics are inherent in leather and do not affect the intrinsic value of your furniture. Therefore they do not constitute a reason for complaint.

The JORI- leather collection: A large spectrum of choices

Our collection includes 4 leather classes:

1. Non-pigmented, full grain leather (Pure Aniline Leather):

This leather is characterized by its vivid colour shades and a certain 3D optics where all natural characteristics are optimally visible. It possesses open pores and is therefore particularly breathable, making it always smooth and warm to the touch. Due to its natural surface, this type of leather is less protected from direct sunlight and dirt. The use creates a beautiful typical patina, which will increase over the years and is inherent in this type of leather.

The leather types of Xienda and Lotila belong to this leather class.

2. Slightly pigmented leather (or semi-aniline leather):

With this leather, the leather surface is covered after tanning with a light pigment layer and finish. The natural characteristics of the leather become slightly less apparent. This leather possesses an excellent resistance to sunlight and filth. This leather also keeps its properties such as breath activity, smoothness and warmth to a large extent.

The leather type of Lipano belongs to this leather class.

3. Pigmented leather:

This leather type is characterized, by the leather surface covered with a durable pigment layer and finish. The natural characteristics are partly concealed, creating a more even grain structure and limiting the natural properties of smoothness and warmth. This leather is very suitable for more intensive use.

The leather types of Larido, Konia, Fuerte and Celia belong to this leather class.

4. Saddle leather:

The origin and processing of this type of leather creates a strikingly quirky look & feel: stiff to the touch with a plain appearance. The smooth surface is obtained by the specific natural/vegetal tanning process and a light pigment layer added on the surface.

Saddle leather is light and patina sensitive, which gives it its typical, desired appearance. Due to the smooth surface, this leather is more sensitive to use tracks.

The leather type of Vegetalia belongs to this leather class.

5. Nubuck leather

Leather type Nubuck is an aniline leather that was slightly scraped on the skin surface. The fibres are thus straightened, creating a velvety look and a ray.
An extremely soft feel, similar to cashmere or silk, is the result.

Preventive maintenance

1. General tips

In order to protect the attractiveness and suppleness of the leather, we provide the following general tips:

∙ Dirt particles, crumbs and sand on leather are almost invisible but damage the surface. Vacuum (on the lowest position) your furniture regularly and always use the correct, blunt piece.
∙ Our qualitative leathers require little care. All leather qualities processed by JORI are supplied with a protective layer against moisture and dirt.
∙ Do not expose your leather seating to direct or strong sunlight. Like any material, leather is sensitive to strong sunlight and can fade to some degree depending on your choice of leather types.
∙ Do not place your leather seating close to direct sources of heat. Leather dries out and exposure to extreme heat may cause it to lose its suppleness.
∙ Prevent stains by avoiding sweat or grease from hair or skin from penetrating the leather pores. JORI offers leather or other protective covers to prevent this problem.
∙ In case of spilling or making stains, the best method is to use a slightly damp cloth or unbleached kitchen paper to dab the spilled surface as quickly as possible. After that, try to remove the stain by gently wiping it (always from the outer side of the stain to the center point) and allowing it to dry naturally.

∙ Try to dab the liquid as quickly as possible with neutral unbleached kitchen paper or with a slightly damp clean lint-free, cotton cloth (towel) Do not rub or press. Stronger filthiness can be removed with a blunt object (e.g. spoon or wooden spatula).
∙ Never use household cleaners with bleach or solvents, nor sharp objects or abrasives. Warm or strongly damp interactions should be avoided.
∙ First test specific cleaning products in a non-visible place and do not use directly on the leather (via cloth). Always treat the stain from the outside to the inside and let it dry naturally (not in direct sunlight). Never rub hard or long in the same place. Only use the furniture after it has completely dried (48h).

2. How to maintain your leather seating furniture?

If you wish, you can dust your couch with a clean soft cloth weekly. Only use the JORI-recommended cleaning products (see http://www.jori-care.com) to ensure that your leather is not irreparably damaged and falls out of guarantee.

The periodicity of maintenance depends heavily on the intensity of use and the observed filthiness. In function of this, you can give your furniture a more thorough clean.

Follow these tips very carefully:

• Always clean first

• Then nourish the leather

Cleaning:

JORI recommends the use of suitable Keralux maintenance products (see http://www.jori-care.com). For those who prefer a more natural way, we also recommend a self-made soapy water with 20 gram alkali free soap (such as ' Marseille soap ') in 1 liter of distilled water.

Use a clean, slightly damp, lint-free, cotton cloth to apply the cleaning products and gently wipe the product over the leather in wide circular movements. Remove as much of the cleaning product as possible with a new damp cloth without any product and allow it dry at least 48 hours. In case of very filthy parts, you can repeat this cleaning process, but allow drying for 48 hours each time.

Nourishing*:

JORI recommends the use of suitable Keralux maintenance products (see http://www.jori-care.com). For those who prefer a more natural way, we also recommend a home-made mixture (1 spoon of Castor Oil in 1 liter of distilled water). Castor Oil is available at the pharmacy.

Use a clean, dry, lint-free, cotton cloth to apply and gently wipe the product over the leather in wide circular movements.

----------
These tips are recommendations that do not guarantee a satisfactory stain removal. JORI recommends contacting our regular cleaning specialist (see http://www.jori-care.com) and informing them about the origin of the stain.

In case of serious damage, always contact your JORI dealer.

Our fabrics collection has been carefully selected by a team of professionals. Furthermore, each fabric has been subjected to all standardized international lab tests. During the selection great importance is attached to specific demands regarding quality, durability, wear-resistance, colour fastness and easy cleaning.

Only those exclusive fabrics that guarantee the demanding buyer a flawless, long-lasting and timeless elegance make it to our collection. The right care, expertly, is of course the key to make your piece of furniture shine for a long time.

Most fabrics are made of natural fibres with often also synthetic fibres. This mix of fibres can then be processed in different ways. The type of fibre ánd the way of processing eventually creates a variation in specific features, user-friendliness and maintenance instructions.

Most of our fabrics consist of one or more types of natural fibres. As with every natural product this goes with specific features. Thread irregularities and colour shades are part of this type of product. These are by no means signs that would indicate an inferior quality, nor reasons to complaints.

The life and natural evolution of each of our fabrics is subject to the duration and intensity of the daily use.

In the long run each type of fabric, irrespective of the fibre structure, loses its colour after prolonged exposure to light. Therefore preferably do not put your furniture in the direct sunlight.

Following external factors are the biggest causes for the damage of your fabric upholstery: Jewellery, keys, zips and other metallic clothing decorations, nails and teeth of pets, sand and leftovers, jeans (not prewashed), etc.

Jeans stains and other colour transfers are caused by the product that left its colour on the fabric. Some dyes are so aggressive that they even migrate into the fibres of synthetic and microfibre fabrics. In this case, the damage is permanent. For natural fibres the colour migration can only be removed at an early stage. So be very attentive for this!

Also don’t undervalue the discolouring effect of plaids and decorative pillows.

Shading

Glossy, lighter or darker, irregular shapes that spontaneously occur after (long time) seating on the fabric. This colour change doesn’t influence the quality at all, but can be bothering in exceptional cases.

Let’s be clear that this is absolutely normal, most common for the chenille and velvet fabrics. As shading doesn’t lead to a decrease in quality, this is no reason to any complaint.

REGULAR CLEANINGDirt, crumbs, sand or other small particles on the upholstery are almost invisible, but can be very damaging for your fabric.

Therefore we recommend to vacuum your seating furniture at least every two weeks (depending on the intensity of use) to the lowest wattage. Always in the direction of the nap (you pat down the hairs) using the right blunt nozzle.

Alternatively you can also use a soft cloth or fabric maintenance glove (fluff-free and no microfibre).

General guidelines for stain treatment

Most of our fabrics in collection have been treated with a moisture- and water repellent coating. That’s why most stains can be quickly removed using following guidelines:

∙ Always try to mop up the liquids as soon as possible with a neutral, unbleached paper towel or slightly damp, clean, fluff-free towel. Do not rub or press to avoid colour fading or damage.
∙ Particular attention for the chenille fabrics: never use water for the stain treatment. Only use the special glove (or dry cleaning if possible).
∙ Never use household cleaners with bleaching agents or solvents.
∙ Our advised cleaning products for specific deep cleaning of all fabric and leather types are offered in cooperation with LCK Nederland. So always consult the specific maintenance instructions for each type of fabric.
∙ Always test the specific cleaning products on an invisible spot instead of directly on the fabric (with a towel).
∙ Always treat the stain from the outside to the inside and let it dry naturally. Never rub hard or long on the same spot. Use the furniture only after it is completely dry again.
∙ Fabric coverings are removable, only when carried out by a professional company.
These instructions are general recommendations yet no guarantee for a satisfying stain removal.

When any doubt or unsatisfactory results with the above-mentioned guidelines, JORI advises to contact LCK Nederland.

MAINTENANCE OF WOODOiled solid wood is a high-quality, durable natural product that ‘lives’ and therefore requires special maintenance. To avoid any discolouring, stains or scratches, JORI advises you to follow the following guidelines closely:

Maintenance of wood:
Apply a very thin oil layer with a lint-free cloth once or twice a year. Rub with a dry cloth after a few minutes. It will take a few days for the oil to set and become effective. Meanwhile the strong smell will also dissipate.Do not use wax:
Wax creates thin layers that attract dirt. This causes scratches and gives the surface a smudgy look.Light will affect the colour of the wood:
Avoid any direct sunlight and regularly move decorations and/or tablecloths to prevent any local discolouring of the furniture and to allow any changes in colour to happen evenly.Changes in temperature and air humidity will make the wood shrink or expand:
Ensure constant air humidity by using humidifiers, water evaporators or radiator humidifiers. Do not place the furniture too close to a heat source or air conditioning unit, as this will dry out the wood. After spilling soft drinks, beer, coffee, tea, wine, ... or even water:
Oiled wood is extremely sensitive to moisture. Always wipe dry immediately. Prevention is always best, so use coasters, placemats or a tablecloth. The warranty conditions exclude moisture rings or stains.Hot objects:
Never place any hot objects directly on to the wood. Always use a trivet.Prevent rings, stains and scratches:
Use coasters and/or placemats and lift objects off the furniture when you move them.Normal colour changes:
The natural light will give furniture with this finish a deeper and warmer colour over the first few months.Colour differences between different pieces of furniture:
Products from different batches may have a different colour.
